The Module
The SAS is BMW's ADAS module: it combines the information from the radar and camera and computes the ADAS command signals — adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane keeping. It's present on G-series cars that have the Driving Assistant Professional (5AU) package. A quick look at the housing before we open it up.
Main Board
The main board is built around an Infineon AURIX Tricore (TC297) microcontroller, surrounded by a cluster of NXP networking transceivers. FlexRay, automotive Ethernet (100BASE-T1 and an SJA1105 switch) and several CAN transceivers are present.
